This page answers some of the questions we frequently receive. If you have a question or would like more information, please contact us by telephone: 713-726-0033, or email: PetSitter@AnimalCompanions.NET.
Pet sitters care for pets in their home environments, providing a low-stress alternative to boarding. This is more than just providing food and water. It also includes quality time, TLC, and watching for potential health problems.
This is transporting a pet from point A to point B, often to the veterinarian or groomer. If a return trip is booked for the same business day, this is called a round-trip and qualifies for a price break (see Services and Fees for more information)
Your sitter looks around the house, checking for things that are out of place (e.g., broken windows or other signs of forced entry).
Most people who need our assistance are busy professionals who travel or just need a little help taking care of their pet loved ones when their schedule keeps them from being home on time. Vacationers and others who want the peace of mind of knowing their home and pet loved ones are in good hands make up the rest of our clientele.
Animal Companions takes great care not to violate client confidentiality.
We know that we are trustworthy and reliable, as are those whom we trust to act in our name, but we realize that to the client we are strangers. Bonding is our assurance to you that Animal Companions is a responsible company and holds itself accountable for the actions of its agents. It is a type of insurance agreement that guarantees reimbursement to the client for any financial losses caused by fraudulent or dishonest acts by company representatives. Examples include theft, embezzlement, or forgery.
This is another way in which Animal Companions shows responsibility for the actions of its agents. Insurance covers any accidental damage that may occur to your property during the course of normal service. For example, if a pet sitter were to break your window while rendering service to a pet, Insurance would cover the damages.
These are organizations that advocate the welfare of animals, promote pet sitting to the public, and help pet sitting organizations network. Each has a code of ethics and standards of conducting business that members must adhere to. Our membership in PSI (Pet Sitters International) and NAPPS (National Association of Professional Pet Sitters) shows that Animal Companions agrees with these ethics and holds itself accountable to them. We recommend you visit the PSI and NAPPS web sites to familiarize yourself with the organizations as well as their recommended ethics and standards. The PSI home page is http://www.petsit.com and the NAPPS home page is http://www.petsitters.org.
The Better Business Bureau provides information about companies and charities to encourage wise purchases and a fair marketplace. This is accomplished by providing a common forum for customers to report and research implications of fraudulent business practices or negligent performance. For more information, see the Houston BBB site at http://www.BBBHou.org. Animal Companions joined the Houston Business Bureau in October 2004. Our membership displays for all our unblemished record of ethical and competent service.
